IPHONE VIDEO COMPRESSION

How to compress a video on iPhone without uploading it

Large iPhone videos can exceed email and messaging limits. Vidmute reduces the file size locally, so the original video never leaves your phone.

Compress a video for WhatsApp or email on iPhone

Compress a video in four steps

  1. Open Vidmute and select a video from Photos or Files.
  2. Choose MP4 or MOV as the output format.
  3. Select a quality level or a target resolution such as 1080p, 720p or 480p.
  4. Start the conversion, preview the result and save or share the smaller file.

Which resolution should you choose?

1080p for a smaller file that stays sharp

Use 1080p when the original is 4K or larger and you still want clear detail on a phone, tablet or laptop.

720p for messaging and email

720p is a practical balance for WhatsApp, Messages and email attachments. It usually cuts much more data than a quality-only conversion.

480p when file size matters most

Choose 480p for quick previews, reference clips or slow connections. Text and fine detail will be less crisp.

Does Vidmute upload the video?

No. Compression uses Apple media frameworks on your iPhone. There is no account, cloud upload or server queue, and the app works in airplane mode.

Keep the original until you check the result

Compression trades some image detail for a smaller file. Preview the converted copy before deleting the original, especially for important recordings.
