An offset moves a run of conduit around an obstacle using two equal bends. To find the distance between the two marks, multiply the offset height by the angle multiplier. A larger angle means a shorter, steeper offset; a smaller angle means a longer, gentler one.

For a 90° stub-up, subtract the conduit take-up from your desired stub height to find the first bend mark. Take-up is the distance the bend “eats up” and depends on conduit size and bender brand.

A three-bend saddle clears a round obstruction like a pipe using a 45° center bend and two 22.5° outer bends. Mark the center of the saddle at the obstruction, place the outer marks 2.5× the obstruction height on each side of center, and add 3/16" of shrink per inch of saddle to keep your stub length on target.
A four-point saddle is two offsets bent back-to-back to cross a square obstruction such as a junction box or beam. Each pair of bends uses the same offset multiplier above. Place the two inner marks at the edges of the obstacle, then measure outward by depth × multiplier for the outer marks.
